At Helm we often hear from customers and prospects how important connectivity is from the boat to the shore. Keeping clear lines of communication is not only beneficial for company transparency, it can also impact a mariner’s decisions on which company he’d like to work for.
According to a recent survey by Futurenautics Research (FR), 73% of respondents said that the level of crew communications services provided onboard influenced their decision about which company they worked for.
Since 2012 FR has been conducting recurring surveys on what connectivity means to the crew. They survey mariners across 30 countries to acquire revealing stats on the importance of connectivity onboard, including what services crew find the most valuable, their thoughts towards technology improvements, and their own level of technology literacy.
