What's new in Helm CONNECT 1.34?
Welcome to Helm CONNECT 1.34. This release delivers improvements across Logistics, Personnel, and Maintenance, including the rebranding of Helm CONNECT Jobs to Logistics, ongoing enhancements to the new Crew Certifications module, and new workflows for managing low-stock parts.
Helm CONNECT Jobs is Now Logistics
We’ve officially rebranded Helm CONNECT Jobs as Helm CONNECT Logistics to better reflect how the product has grown beyond its early focus on dispatching and billing harbor docking jobs. In Helm CONNECT, you’ll now see “Logistics” wherever you previously saw “Jobs,” both onboard and on shore. Everything you do today works exactly the same—only the labels have changed.
Updates to the New Crew Certifications Module in Helm CONNECT Personnel
Earlier this year, we introduced our new Crew Certifications module—now available in early access—to help you stay ahead of expiring or missing certifications and set up requirements that match how your organization operates. Since then, we’ve been listening closely to feedback from early adopters and continuing to build on the foundation we set.
In this release, we added automated email notifications that alert crew members and responsible parties when certifications are approaching their expiry dates. We also added a new Safe Manning feature to the Crew Scheduling module for customers who use the new Crew Certifications module.
Two New Ways to Manage Low-Stock Parts in Helm CONNECT Maintenance
This release introduces two new options to help you stay ahead of low-stock parts and choose the workflow that fits your team—whether you prefer to review items manually, automate the process, or use a mix of both.
Review Low-Stock Parts with the New Shopping List
The new Shopping List tabs under Maintenance > Requisitions and Onboard > Requisitions bring all parts that fall below their minimum quantities into one place. You can quickly review items, adjust quantities, check for pending requests, search across assets, and filter by division, asset, vendor, or critical spare. It’s a simple way to build consolidated requisitions if your team prefers to review everything before ordering.
Let Helm CONNECT Create Requisitions Automatically
If you prefer automation, you can now have Helm CONNECT create requisitions the moment a part drops below its minimum quantity—based on real usage from tasks or checklists. Turn this on by selecting the new Reorder checkbox on the Setup > Parts > Parts tab. Each asset receives one automatically generated requisition per day, and any additional low-stock parts are added to it. These requisitions are clearly labeled as created by “Helm System.”
Update on the New Library Tab in Helm CONNECT Compliance
We previously shared that the original Library tab would be retired in Version 1.34 and replaced by the newer, mobile-friendly Library (Beta) tab. We’ve since heard that some of you want more time to prepare your crews, so we’ve paused that change for now. Both versions of the Library tab will remain available while we work with you to make sure the timing is right for this change.
If you’re in New Orleans December 3–5 for the International WorkBoat Show, drop by Booth #3529 to see these new features in action, say hi to our friendly team, and—of course—pick up the latest Helm socks. It’s our first year on the main aisle, and we’d love to see you there!
