A New Way to Track Your Crew Certifications

Tracking certifications for your crew is essential for compliance and safe operations. Our original Crew Certifications module has helped operators manage crew compliance for years, but we knew our customers needed even more flexibility, clearer requirements, and stronger integration with scheduling.

We’re proud to introduce our new Crew Certifications module, which makes it easier to stay ahead of expiring or missing certifications, set up requirements that match the way you operate, and ensure your crew always has the right qualifications in place. Whether you’re running a single vessel or a complex fleet, the new module gives you clearer oversight and greater confidence in your crew’s certifications and, for the first time, integrates directly with the Crew Scheduling module.

New Crew Certifications Module – Managing Crew Certifications

What’s New and Improved

The new Crew Certifications module includes several key improvements to how you track and manage certifications for your crew:

  • Maintain certification continuity: Preserve crew certifications during promotions so records remain complete and accurate.

  • Define equivalencies: Configure alternative crew certifications that meet the same requirement, such as Masters 500 or Masters Unlimited counting toward a Masters 200.

  • Create flexible lead times: Go beyond fixed 30/60/90-day warnings by setting custom lead times for crew certifications, each with its own color coding.

  • Link certifications to assets: Assign certifications like vessel familiarizations or drills directly to specific assets.

  • Set certification requirements with a matrix: Define which crew certifications are required by division, position, asset, or type of work, and configure safe manning rules to ensure the right number of qualified crew are onboard.

  • Enable crew self-service: Crew members can upload their certifications through their profiles, and shoreside teams can review and approve them before they become active.

Integration With Your Crew Schedules

If you also use the Crew Scheduling module, you’ll appreciate how seamlessly the new Crew Certifications module integrates with your crew schedules:

  • Check certifications in scheduling: Automatically verify crew certifications when assigning shifts. Missing or expired certifications trigger warnings on scheduled items.

  • View safe manning compliance: See a compliance bar in the schedule showing whether the crew complement meets minimum certification requirements.

  • Access all certification issues at a glance: Open an aggregated list of missing or expired certifications in the schedule toolbar for quick review.
