It’s been an exciting first quarter at Helm Operations and we’re poised for an amazing 2019. We grew our customer base by 52 percent since this time last year, signed two of the largest towage companies in South America, built up our global teams in South America and Europe, and laid the groundwork for what’s sure to be Helm’s best year ever!
What have we been up to?
Welcome Aboard!
We’re proud to welcome 303 assets from ten companies aboard Helm CONNECT this quarter, including one of the world’s largest OSV operators and two of the largest towage operators in South America! Our new customers are a diverse group ranging in size, vertical, and location. Here are just a few of them:

We’re excited to bring these companies on board and look forward to helping them achieve their goals. Overall, we now have 157 customers using Helm CONNECT. That’s up from 103 a year ago—a 52 percent increase!
Helm CONNECT 1.13 Release
This quarter we released Helm CONNECT 1.13, which included the ability to confirm crew schedules by SMS and email, manage your exchange rates, and report revenue in multiple currencies. One of our favorite new features—which was based directly on crew feedback—was the new list view in Onboard > Logs. Sometimes the little things make the biggest difference! Helm Conference
Helm Conference is back! Join us in Nashville from October 7 to 9 for the learning and development event of the year for Helm CONNECT users. You’ll get to meet the team, learn from industry experts, and gain valuable skills to improve your company’s business. Tickets will be on sale soon so be sure to save the date!

New Hires
This quarter we welcomed three new members to the Helm Team:
Jonathan Cheng is the new Marketing Manager at our Victoria office. He jumped right into the position and is working on bringing you an awesome Helm Conference.
Lisa Bruno joined our EU team in the Netherlands as a Business Development Representative. She has over ten years of experience in this industry and has been the perfect addition to our European team.
Jaiane Moraes is the new Business Development Representative at our Chile office. She is already rocking it with our CASA team.

Speaking at the National Association of Marine Surveyors Annual Conference
The National Association of Marine Surveyors (NAMS) held their annual conference from March 24-26 in Vancouver, Washington. NAMS invited us to drop by and speak to the audience, as their members are constantly encountering Helm CONNECT on vessels. Our CEO, Ron deBruyne, delivered a presentation on how Helm CONNECT speeds up and improves the auditing process for all parties. It was a resounding success, and we look forward to collaborating with NAMS again in the future!
Matt and Cooper are New Dads!
Congratulations to both our Director of Development, Matt, and our VP of Product, Cooper, on becoming new dads recently! Matt and his wife, Ellen, had a beautiful baby boy, Theodore, and Cooper and his wife, Jess, had a gorgeous baby girl, Emma. Welcome to the Helm family Theo and Emma!
What are we looking forward to next quarter?
We have lots of big plans on the go for our next quarter! We’ll be exhibiting at several trade shows (including the Offshore Technology Conference, Inland Marine Expo, and Seawork), working to bring you a new product release, participating in a local charity event, and planning all the fun details of Helm Conference.
