Helm Operations 2018

I wanted to take a moment to say a big ‘Thank You!’ to all our customers for your incredible support last year. 

It’s been just over 18 months since we released Helm CONNECT 1.0, and we already have more than 100 companies and over 2,400 assets using our software. Thanks to you, Helm CONNECT is now the fastest growing maritime software platform in the world. In North America, Helm CONNECT is used on 40 percent of the American Waterways Operators’ (AWO) fleet, and we’re rapidly expanding into Europe, South America, and Australia.

It’s been an amazing journey, and we’re grateful to all our customers for making Helm CONNECT what it is today. Here are just some of the things we’re doing behind the scenes to make Helm CONNECT even better for you, your crews, and your operations.

  • Investing in infrastructure. This spring, we’ll be quadrupling our server capacity on Amazon Web Services (AWS) to make Helm CONNECT even more reliable.
  • Better data transfer for asset installations. We recently revamped our data transfer process. Previously, data was sent in large chunks, but we’ve now switched to a streaming style of data transfer. This means that new work, such as tasks, inspections, maintenance routines, and jobs, will be received more reliably by your assets, even when your crews are working in areas with poor or intermittent Internet connections.
  • Higher quality releases. We’re always focused on improving the quality of each Helm CONNECT release. Last year, we expanded and restructured our development and quality assurance teams. This year, we’re implementing new automated testing systems. Our goal is to produce higher quality releases with fewer bugs, so you experience minimal disruption when we update Helm CONNECT.
  • New offices in Europe and South America. We’ll be increasing our staff to better support our users in Europe and South America in 2018, as we continue to expand our operations globally.

And that’s not all.

In 2018, we’re also launching our latest product, Helm CONNECT Personnel, for managing crew schedules, crew changes, and payroll. We’re starting the first live pilots of the Crew Scheduling module now. If you’re interested In Helm CONNECT Personnel, please get in touch with your Account Manager.
